EX-CULT – Memphis, TN
“…a punk rock sweet spot that incorporates angular post-punk, flying saucer fuzz guitar, snotty vocals and bash-your-head-in energy. A real stone groove! Killer linear punk à la Wire, Urinals, Australia’s X or something, man! A show at SXSW caught the attention of indie wonderkind Ty Segall, and the two began making plans to record in San Francisco,” resulting in their s/t Goner release.

TECHNICOLOR TEETH – Wisconsin, feat. members of Tenement
“Wisconsin’s Technicolor Teeth is the first band I’ve seen categorized as “Nightgaze”, and the name suits them quite well. Though the spacey sounds created by the trio’s six-string assault are lightweight and misty, heavenly isn’t quite the best word to describe them. Try hellish. Technicolor Teeth put an unnerving spin on My Bloody Valentine’s gravelly ambience, giving their debut album, Teenage Pagans, a ghastly but beautiful sound.” -via half-gifts

“Daniel Bachman is a 22-year-old musician born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He has been playing what he describes as “psychedelic appalachia” since he was a teenager, releasing small run editions of tapes, CDs and LPs for the past three years, with a sound that evolved from drones and banjos to a now guitar centered focus. Touring off and on since the age of 17, Bachman has managed to cover thorough ground across the US, sharing stages with like minded folk such as fellow Fredericksburg native Jack Rose, for whom he fashioned the artwork for the posthumous release of ‘Luck In The Valley’. His newest effort is the full length LP ‘Seven Pines’, sprung from a year living and working in the city of Philadelphia. The sound results in a combination of homesick worried blues and the ecstatic buzz of fresh experience and a new life in unknown territory. Familiar and known, but also seeking to access memories from lives past, dead and gone.”

LOCUST POST (a.k.a. Benny Paynter) – Boone, NC
New Lonesome-American singer-songwritership in the vein of Palace Music/Will Oldham and Magnolia Electric Company. Lonesome, perhaps, but Paynter’s songwriting evinces a peculiar angularity and triumph that breathes new life into, and spills Highlife upon, American folk.
BAYLOR ROSSI – Boone, NC
Formerly of Nice To Meet You James, Baylor writes gut-wrenching, quirky and introspective indie-folk.

Two-time BooneLive alumni LANTERN are coming back for a third strike. You may remember how their last visit erupted into sheer chaos. God only knows what they’ll do to our town this time around.
“Risen in the form of neon fume from Philadelphia side-street sewer lids come LANTERN. Orbiting around the songwriter duo of Zachary Devereux Fairbrother and Emily Robb (with the auxiliary addition of Montreal-import Christian Simmons on skins, also of Sheer Agony), Lantern is what rock ‘n’ roll was – loud, oozy, inspiring, perspiring, pummeling directly forward yet cloaked in the arcane.”
